Client challenge

The lighting was only half the problem. The cabling supporting it was ageing and increasingly difficult to maintain, so a cosmetic upgrade would have left the underlying risk in place. For the asset managers this was a capital decision about the centre's long-term operational viability.

Delivery

Delivered during silent hours using defined waste routes, so ceilings were reinstated, floors cleaned and systems progressively returned to service before trading each morning.

• Replacement of ageing twin-and-earth cabling with low smoke zero halogen cabling throughout ceiling voids.
• Full electrical strip-out and re-cable.
• THORN LED installation with DALI commissioning.
• Granular group control for marketing modes and low-footfall dimming.

Outcomes

• Removed a legacy risk

  Degraded cabling was taken out of the building rather than maintained indefinitely.
