Commercial & industrial electrical
Commercial electrical infrastructure, delivered to standard and evidenced afterwards
Commercial electrical work is judged twice: once when it is commissioned, and again years later when someone asks for the test results, the certificates or the condition report.
Greentech designs, installs, tests and certifies LV distribution, power, lighting and controls for commercial and industrial sites across Scotland — and stays involved once the building is in use.

The position
Greentech tenders for the electrical package on serious commercial and industrial projects — delivered as a standalone contract, or integrated with the renewables and asset-care scope that follows it.
Where electrical projects usually go wrong
The installation is fine. The evidence is missing. Distribution boards are not labelled to match the drawings, circuit schedules do not reflect what was actually installed, and the next contractor inherits a building nobody can trace.
That becomes expensive at the exact moments it matters most: an insurance renewal, a fit-out next door, a fault at 2am, or a sale.
What that looks like on site
- Distribution and containment installed without a traceable circuit schedule.
- Testing deferred to handover, so defects are found when the programme is tightest.
- Lighting and controls installed but never commissioned against the design intent.
We want to be on your tender list
Send the drawings, the specification and your return date. We price the electrical package as drawn, flag what we think is missing, and tell you if the programme or the existing supply makes the scope unrealistic.

Scope of works
The boundaries matter as much as the content. If something sits outside our scope, we say so before the project starts.
- 01
LV distribution
New and upgraded distribution boards, sub-mains, busbar trunking, containment and final circuits for commercial and industrial loads.
- 02
Power and plant
Three-phase supplies, machinery and plant connections, and power infrastructure for fit-outs and process changes.
- 03
Lighting and controls
LED retrofits and new lighting schemes with DALI, daylight harvesting, presence detection and scene control, commissioned against the design.
- 04
Testing and certification
Periodic inspection and testing, EICR, emergency lighting testing to BS 5266, and certification of new works.
- 05
Fit-out packages
Cat A and Cat B electrical packages delivered alongside other trades, with the containment and data routes planned together.
- 06
Fault finding and remedials
Diagnosis of distribution faults, thermal issues and repeated failures, with remedial works coded by urgency.

The package
One electrical package, five layers of accountability
Most electrical problems surface between packages. We take responsibility for the whole chain, so the distribution, the containment and the evidence hand over together.
- 01
Supply and intake
DNO liaison, intake arrangements and the capacity the site actually needs.
- 02
Distribution and protection
Sub-mains, boards, busbar and protective device coordination.
- 03
Containment and cabling
Tray, trunking, basket and final circuits planned with the other services in the void.
- 04
Lighting and controls
Schemes, DALI and controls commissioned against the design intent.
- 05
Testing, certification and handover
Results, schedules and labelled boards that match what was installed.
Routes in
Where you might be starting from
The right first step depends on whether this is a new project, an asset already installed, or an adjacent requirement.
- 01
Tender an electrical package
New build, refurbishment or fit-out — send the pack and the return date.
Submit a tender - 02
Discuss an electrical project
A concept, a constraint and a timescale are enough to start a technical conversation.
Talk to the projects team - 03
Planned and reactive requirements
Testing, remedials and maintenance for estates already in operation.
Maintenance & compliance - 04
Review existing infrastructure
Condition and capacity evidence for the electrical assets you already own.

Process
How the project runs
- 1
Assess
Site survey, existing capacity review, and an honest view of what the supply and distribution can support before anything is designed.
- 2
Design
Circuit design, distribution strategy, containment routes and controls intent, coordinated with the wider project team.
- 3
Deliver
Installation programmed around occupation, with isolation planning agreed in advance and a named project manager.
- 4
Commission
Testing, certification and a handover pack that matches what was actually installed — not what was drawn.
Standards
What this work is measured against
The standards and certifications that govern the work, and the basis on which we expect to be held.
- BS 7671
- Design, installation and testing to the current edition of the IET Wiring Regulations.
- NICEIC
- Approved Contractor status covering design, installation, testing and certification.
- BS 5266
- Emergency lighting design, installation and periodic testing.
- Electricity at Work Regulations
- Installations maintained so as to prevent danger, with the records to demonstrate it.
Considerations
What tends to go wrong
Being explicit about risk is more useful than promising that nothing will happen.
Capacity assumptions
A new load added to an unassessed board is how nuisance tripping starts. We measure and verify before adding.
Hidden legacy conditions
Ageing cabling, undersized earthing or previous non-compliant alterations are common. We report them rather than working over them.
Occupied buildings
Live sites need isolation planning, out-of-hours sequencing and clear communication with building users.
Evidence
Delivered projects in this scope
Named clients, published contract values and the engineering detail — only where the scope genuinely formed part of the works.

Greentech RCR
The asset you install today will need evidence later
Greentech RCR reports on existing solar, battery and EV assets — including those installed by another contractor — so condition and actions are documented rather than assumed.
Domestic RCR

Commercial RCR
From £295 + VAT
Domestic RCR is £149 + VAT per property. Commercial RCR starts from £295 + VAT and is confirmed against the assets on site — never assumed.
