Fleets & depots

Fleet and depot EV charging

Electrifying a depot is a maximum-demand problem before it is a charger problem. Vehicles return within a window, charge at the same time, and the site has to absorb that load without breaching its supply.

We assess the depot, model the load, and design a phased strategy — AC and DC, managed within the capacity you have.

Typical clients

Logistics, vans, coaches, contractors, utilities, FM

Core constraint

Maximum demand against the agreed supply capacity

Strategy

AC for dwell time, DC for turnaround

Funding position

Depot-specific windows change — we confirm per project

The depot funding landscape

Each card is generated from our central funding database. Where a window has closed, it says so — we do not present a closed scheme as open.

Government infrastructure grant

Details pending confirmation

EV infrastructure grant for staff and fleets

A grant route aimed at the enabling infrastructure behind multiple chargepoints - the cabling, containment and distribution work that makes a larger installation possible - rather than the chargepoints themselves.

Designed for
Business, Charity, Public-sector organisation, Fleet operator
Potential support
Published as a percentage of eligible infrastructure cost, subject to a cap.
Key considerations
Eligible organisations with off-street parking and a planned multi-chargepoint installation. The infrastructure works and the chargepoints are assessed under the scheme's own rules.

Government chargepoint grant

Active

Workplace Charging Scheme

A voucher-based grant for eligible organisations installing chargepoints for staff and visitors. The organisation applies, receives a voucher, and then books an eligible installer within the voucher period.

Designed for
Business, Charity, Public-sector organisation, School / education provider, Fleet operator
Potential support
350 pounds per eligible socket, up to the published socket cap per applicant.
Key considerations
Eligible registered businesses, charities and public-sector organisations, with off-street parking, designated staff or fleet use, and an eligible installer. Charging is not permitted to be used to generate revenue from the general public under the scheme rules.

What you need to know

Start with the site, not the vehicles

The depot assessment records the incoming supply, the distribution and protection arrangement, the civils, and the space available. From that we build the load model: how many vehicles, over what dwell time, at what charge rate, and what that does to the site's peak.

  • Incoming capacity, transformer and switchgear headroom
  • Maximum demand today, and after each phase
  • Vehicle dwell patterns and shift times
  • AC versus DC split, and where each is justified
  • Load management, sequencing and site controls
  • Civils: ducting, bays, canopy and lighting

AC or DC, and why the answer is usually both

Vehicles that sit overnight suit AC charging, which is cheaper per bay and gentler on the supply. Vehicles that must turn around mid-shift need DC. A depot usually needs a small number of DC bays and a larger number of AC bays, with the control system deciding the order.

The funding landscape, honestly

Depot-facing funding has been the least stable part of the picture. Rather than publish a rate that may already have changed, we hold the current status in our funding database — and where no window is open, we say so and plan the project on its own merits.

Funding update pending

Depot-specific funding terms are not confirmed at the time of writing. Register your interest and we will tell you when the position changes — we will not quote a rate we cannot evidence.

Tell us the fleet, the depot and the operating pattern. We will come back with the capacity position and a phased strategy.

We use your details to respond to this enquiry only. We do not apply for funding on your behalf, and we do not decide whether you are eligible.

We only publish routes we can point to a source for. If you have seen funding mentioned elsewhere, send it to us and we will check the current position rather than guess.

Already have renewable assets?

Funding is not the only opportunity. Understanding the condition, safety and performance of existing solar, battery or charging assets could identify problems, risks and optimisation opportunities — particularly where an installation has never been independently inspected.
